NUC order universities to remain closed despite suspension of strike

Despite the suspension of the 9-months strike action by the Academic staff union of universities (ASUU), the National University Commission (NUC), has ordered that all academic activities be put to a stop by universities in the country.

The commission gave the order amidst the increasing cases of the coronavirus in the country.

The directives which were contained in a circular signed by the executive secretary of the agency, Chris Maiyaki, instructs vice-chancellors of universities that classrooms, hostel accommodation, conferences, and seminars are to be put on hold.

It also directs universities to remain closed and await further instructions.
